Why Watch 3 Idiots
Loosely based on Five Point Someone by Indian writer Chetan Bhagat, 3 Idiots is a very bollywoodish attempt at taking a jab at the education system in India. Entertaining yet informative at the same time with a bit of romance and song and dance thrown in, in the right amount to bring in the masses as well as assuring a hit at the box-office.
The director, Raju Hirani of Munnabhai fame is able to raise a few very pertinent questions in the garb of comedy and entertainment which helps in easy viewing. The questions posed by the film include:
- The fixation on achieving high grades
- Efficacy of learning things by rote
- The issue of parental pressure that forces a young individual to take up vocations that are not their preference and committing suicide when they fail to match their expectations.
On the whole the film is well worth your money with some stellar performances by its leading actors.
