AIDS in India

India is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, next only to China. It is estimated that more than 2.3 million of the total population in the country is presently living with HIV.  In fact our country has the fourth largest population of individuals living with HIV Aids in the world.  However, despite the high population, there has been a steady decline in the incidence of new cases of AIDS in India.

Findings of the new reports issued by the WHO and UNAIDS, on AIDS in India reveal that the total number of individuals suffering from HIV and AIDS in India has reduced from 5.5 million in the year 2005, to 2.5 million in the year 2007.
