Ruposi Bangla- A Travel Destination

The eminent Bengali poet Jibananda Das fondly described Bengal as Ruposi Bangla or Bengal- The pretty lady. With serene greenery, rivers and varied landscape, the terrain of West Bengal is truly a balm to the eyes.

If the dry, red and undulating soil of Birbhum in southern part of the state echo the melody of Bauls or the minstrels, then North Bengal hums the folk music of farmers in green paddy fields and boatmen in the different rivers flowing through this part of the state.

You can enjoy the Bay of Bengal in Digha, Shankarpur or Mandarmoni and you can wrap up yourself in blankets along the Kanchenjunga in Darjeeling. Rugged topography to green pastures and sea beaches to snow-peaked mountains, if you want to look for so many geographical differences in one Indian state, it is indeed West Bengal, the Ruposi Bangla.
